Offering dental sedation at your practice is an excellent way to build your patient base and grow your dental business. Our dental sedationists are approved mentors, awarded by STAC at the Royal College of Surgeons.
At Dental Sedation Solutions, we provide mentoring packages for training in inhalation sedation and IV sedation. Once you have completed your theory training on an accredited sedation course, you can contact us to supervise you through your 10 or 20 mentored cases. We come to your clinics to provide supervised care and support to both the Dentist and the Nurse throughout the sedation process. We can also provide a STAC-accredited Sedation Nurse for one-to-one support, which we highly recommend.
Please note, we do not provide patients; sourcing patients is the delegate’s responsibility. It is important to be trained within your own working environment, and we aim to ensure a smooth, practical learning experience in your practice.
According to the IACSD guidelines version 1.1 (2020), all sedation practitioners—dentists and nurses who have undergone didactic learning must complete 10 inhalation sedation (IHS) and or 20 IV sedation cases under the supervision of an experienced and approved mentor.
You will also require Immediate Life Support (ILS) training, which may include both adult and paediatric ILS depending on your practice needs. We can recommend RCMS, whom you can contact here for more information.
The Royal College of Surgeons has set up a mentor approval process, which can be found here.
We have work-based assessments set up to ensure that all aspects of the syllabus are covered before signing off the mentee. We will continue to guide you and provide advice and support as you transition to become an independent sedation provider.
